There's a version of "full-service agency" that means: a designer mocks up screens, then a dev team rebuilds them in whatever framework was cheapest that quarter.
That's not what we mean by design-led.
Design-led means
- **Typography and rhythm before components** — if the type system is wrong, no component library saves you
- **Brand and product in the same breath** — Cuepost didn't get a logo after the app shipped; identity and interface evolved together
- **Engineering in service of the vision** — Next.js, Neon, Framer Motion are choices, not the headline
Dev-first means
- Stack decisions drive scope conversations
- "Can we do that in React?" becomes the creative brief
- Shipping beats coherence
Neither is wrong for every project. But if you're hiring for taste, hire for taste first — then find people who can build what they designed.
